How Do You Find a Reputable Interior Designer

You might need to find a local service provider with a creative flair for interior designing work at some point in your lives. What are your options other than looking through the Yellow Pages for reputable interior designers?

Most cases you won't know where to begin, or what questions to ask. There's also the unknown cost of it all.

You probably don't have a lot of experience working with designers so it's a good idea to ask your friends if they have ever hired a professional to assist with home design projects.

Next, ask your coworkers or members of your church or other religious organizations. You will never hear about the great people you hired after you have completed your work. It's like the old saying, "If you don't ask people before buying something, they will always tell you."

You might think that it would be easy to solve your problems because we live in the Information Age, with social marketing sites and all the communication options and forums available on the Internet.

If none of the above recommendations have resulted in a positive referral, you may want to expand your network and do more research. Take a stroll through your downtown area and take a look at the interiors in restaurants, cafes, showrooms, and stores.

Interior designers can be multi-talented, and they work with both residential and commercial clients. Ask the restaurant owner if they have hired an interior designer if you like the style you see in their restaurant. If the answer is "yes", then you can ask the owner for his contact information and the name of the designer.

If this approach seems too outlandish for you, visit trade associations web sites like the American Society of Interior Designers. Look for a page that lists designers according to their location, design specialties and pricing structures. Once you have found a designer that matches your needs, contact them to set up an appointment to discuss your project.

You can also visit your local bookstore to browse trade magazines that focus on interior design, architecture, and homes. These magazines often have display ads, or a section at their back that contains all kinds of ads. Local magazines are a great choice because many ads will come from local professionals.

Another option is to contact a local school of design to find out if they offer a placement or career service for students and graduates. They might be willing to work on a smaller project to gain experience and to refer others.
